KCauldron no longer working #391

We were trying to update our server to the latest version, unfortunately it seems KCauldron (any version) will no longer start the server as its specifically seeking Forge. Obviously the forge jar is in the server directory

Just to add there is no forge 1566 based version of KCauldron, its 1588 then 1614.

Your forge jar is missing/corrupted or misplaced. Yes you need forge jar with kcauldron. Check your installation. Forge 1614 is what we use since BRC 2.3.8x but it should be no issue with BRC2.3.7x Current BRC 2.3.9-r2 is delivered with Forge 1614.

Anyway, please keep in mind we dropped support for Cauldron based server a while back. This is why we now include Forge Essentials with pack.

Yes as stated in the original the forge jar is in the server installation folder, I have tried multiple versions of forge with multiple versions of Kcauldron.

I would like to say I understand the dropping of support for Cauldron based servers, everyone else does but our players like servers that have something that differentiates between all the other servers out there. Plugins allow us to do that, include building up a community of players from different types of modpacks, none of which would have been possible without Cauldron based servers.

Unfortunately dropping plugins on a network of 12 servers is not a viable option for us, neither is forge essentials, it will never come close to the utility of plugins.

I will wait for the 1614 release and see if it works, thanks anyways.

Yea... A lot of servers are having to switch, the server that I am admin on is working on Forge Essentials.

Unfortunately, even Forge Essentials is significantly inferior to Bukkit Essentials, and a lot of other plugins don't have a forge replacement.

This is especially important as servers move to 1.8 modded as there is no cauldron for 1.8

I think Sponge will fill the 1.8+ gap, it's looking more likely the next range of modpacks will be 1.9 based tho, difficult times for admins and players however but brighter times ahead perhaps :)

True... True... Now we just need to wait for gregtech 1.9
