Universal binary for macOS #17

Please describe the feature or enhancement you would like to see I would appreciate if it's possible to make a universal2 binary release for macOS, so that there's only one download needed for macOS regardless of using an Intel or Apple Silicon based Mac.

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe Having a universal binary simplifies distribution to our end-user computers at our university, and automatically helps to streamline performance on relevant platforms.

Hi, that is a good question. There is no reason why not. It requires some small changes to the build process but doubles the size of the installation package.

We will probably offer it as an extra build in addition to the others, publicly available for administrators from our GitHub repo (where the builds reside).

We are currently working furiously on a beta release of our new software package DOTEbase that integrates with DOTE, so we will get around to it later when both DOTE and DOTEbase can be offered with such a build.
