I try to upgrade from Montery to Ventura but it told that fail update, so do I need to install Ventura directly fromo USB? Thank you

BillDH2k commented 9 months ago

I believe that you could perform Ventura update directly from Monterey, but I haven't tried that with my set up. Install from USB to Monterey partition should work for sure.

Here is the easiest way to install the Venture on Montery, but beforehand, I suggest you update your OpenCore EFI to the newest release.

  1. In the APP store, search the keywords "macOS Ventura", click the blue button to download the image into your Application menu, or, you can also see the icon on your LaunchPad. Please forgive that my primary language is Chinese.

  2. Select the icon in LaunchPad and follow the wizard to move forward

  3. After installation, drag the "macOS Ventura" icon from your Application folder to trash.

What is your hardware? 440, 640, or 840? Any additional add-on hardwares? Your Monterey version? OC version?

swanduron commented 9 months ago

Please show your information "About Mac".

Another point, where do you get the macOS image? If you downloading the DMG from internet instead of AppStore, please check if it's an Apple Silicon version.

image I use Z440 with xeon 2680v3, GPU 6600, I download from AppStore Ventura, I used later Monterey version, OC I update the lastest version you upload!

Could you please try to change the csr-active-config from 03000000 to 00000000? Before changing the value, please save your current EFI folder to a USB stick.

Hi sir, please let me know if you get any progress~

I think Monterey is still good, so I don't upgrade anymore, thank you so much, cause these days I got some tasks from my boss, I have to finish them first. I'll update when I have free time, thanks again for your precious time to help me!

No problem brother. I didn't understand what the CSR-active-config meant. My office computer has 00000000 as the value of this field, and the upgrading is smooth.
