Is your feature/tool request related to a problem? Please describe.

Upon searching all collections for the genus Triantha in New Jersey, I noticed that they records marked as Triantha glutinosa x racemosa are not located. However when you search Triantha glutinosa in New Jersey these records do populate. There are actually 20 records of Triantha in New Jersey in all collections but when searching just the genus name only 11 records show.

Describe the solution you'd like.

All records within in the genus whether identified further or not to result in a search.

Who else has expressed a desire for this feature/tool?

NA

When and how would this feature be used? What are some use cases?

Hi @meganryank , thanks for your feedback! This happens because Triantha glutinosa x racemosa is not listed in the taxonomic thesaurus. When you search for a genus, it will give you all the specimens belonging to the children taxa of that genus. However, when you search for something longer than a genus, it also gives you un-indexed names that are similar to your input string (i.e., the name that you entered in the search bar). I know this doesn't fix your problem, but perhaps it can clarify why it happens, until we're able to address it.
