BioC Asia 2021 hex sticker

Hi @jorainer I'm Kozo Nishida. I will be in charge of organizing BioC Asia 2021. I would like to ask you to design a BioC Asia 2021 sticker. I would like you to utilize the BioC 2021 sticker for the BioC Asia 2021 sticker design. https://github.com/Bioconductor/BiocStickers/tree/master/events/Bioc2021 Specifically, I would like ask you to replace Mt. Rainier with Mt. Fuji, a Starbucks mug with a Japanese tea cup, and green plant with Japanese bonsai plant (on the BioC 2021 sticker).

Can I ask you to create BioC Asia 2021 sticker by deriving it from BioC 2021 design? BioC Asia 2021 will be held after BioC 2021(July?). Therefore, I would appreciate it if you could design the BioC Asia 2021 sticker by July.

I'm sorry @LiNk-NY. I became more aware of the "message" of BioC Asia 2021 as I have discussed with the committee about the plan of it. The message is "overcoming the lanuguage barriers". Therefore, I came to want to add an expression that suggests "diversity of languages" in addition to "Japan" to this sticker. I am very sorry to you (@LiNk-NY), but I would like to also propose the following sticker. I am sorry to ask you a favor.

This painting is just a copy of Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai, but I thought that the symmetric and different-looking mountains on the surface of the lake would be a good indication of the diversity of languages. (And I added Japanese text to the surface of the lake.) If you allow me to be selfish about my expression, I would like to ask you to change the sticker used for BioC Asia 2021.

I understand and agree with the message of inclusion of diversity of languages. Perhaps we should also include Chinese text for "Bioc Asia 2021 Virtual" on the sticker?

The conference starts Nov. 1 so I should have some time to work on it. It would be difficult to replicate Hokusai's work but I will see what I can do.

@LiNk-NY Thank you for your comment. I am sorry, but I will replace the hex sticker on https://bioconductor.github.io/BiocAsia2021/ with one that has message of language diversity. Yes, I will include Chinese(Mandarin?) text on the sticker too. This Hokusai's work is in the public domain of Wikimedia Commons, so it may be usable as it is.

@LiNk-NY I also made some changes. I filled the lake surface color at the bottom. And I wrote Mandarin and Japanese on the same hexagonal (lower right) side. This is because I felt that the space on the upper right is a little small. I also pushed the image data source to https://github.com/Bioconductor/BiocAsia2021/tree/main/static/img/carousel . (BiocAsia2021Hokusai.* is that. You can send a pull request for it!) The fonts I use in each language are as follows.

• English : Aller font from https://github.com/Bioconductor/BiocStickers/tree/master/fonts/Aller
• Mandarin : source-han-sans Language Specific OTFs Simplified Chinese (简体中文) from https://github.com/adobe-fonts/source-han-sans/releases/tag/2.004R
• Japanese : source-han-sans Language Specific OTFs Japanese (日本語) from https://github.com/adobe-fonts/source-han-sans/releases/tag/2.004R

Can I use this version for BioC Asia 2021 website?

That is a great idea to combine the two languages into one section! I personally prefer the red lettering. If you will permit me, I'd like to remove the dark corner in the sky so that it looks uniform and less ominous.

Therefore, I would like to include the Marcel's sticker in this repository too.
