iNat links: switch to using UK portal #1144

Open kitenetter opened 3 years ago

When we were importing from iNat previously, we provided a link to the observation on iNat. Now that the UK iNat portal exists, it may be preferable to link there. Can we configure our links to go to the UK portal?

Example:

We'd have to make a small configuration setting, as the iNaturalist code might be used in other places like Luxembourg. Does the UK page have a filter applied (and therefore won't show observations from outside the UK)? If so, are we certain that all the polygons we are importing from are included on the UK page @kitenetter?

Revisiting this. I an confirm that all global observations can be viewed via the UK iNaturalist portal. So we will not be generating broken links if we switch to the UK URLs.

I'm keen to do this for UK verifiers, so that verifiers only need to register on the UK portal and everything can be done there, which is what NBN prefers.

Does this cause problems for overseas Indicia users such as the Luxembourg example you mentioned @johnvanbreda ?

No problems foreseen as long as the small configuration setting change mentioned above is implemented.
