Species names not linking to UKSI #993

Open kitenetter opened 3 years ago

kitenetter commented 3 years ago

UKBMS records of the aggregate Small/Essex Skipper are not getting linked to a taxon name. There is a suitable aggregate in UKSI: http://nbn-sd-dev.nhm.ac.uk/taxon.php?linkKey=NHMSYS0020784146

The UKSI name does not have an associated vernacular name, so that may be the problem, or it may be a link that has gone missing in the online transect walker system?

The external_key field for this aggregate is not filled in, for either the iRecord Butterflies or the UKBMS Butterflies. Therefore it can't be linked to UKSI. Presumably when the lists were setup it wasn't available in UKSI. It may be worth checking with those involved in UKBMS before filling it in in case there are impacts I'm not aware of.

Documenting a few more missing names - will check the external_key fields when I can, no need for action at this stage.

  1. Moth Blastobasis lacticolella - no scientific or English name in the download; example: https://www.brc.ac.uk/irecord/record-details?occurrence_id=18152700
  2. Moth Paraswammerdamia nebulella - no scientific or English name in the download; example: https://www.brc.ac.uk/irecord/record-details?occurrence_id=9306770

Same again for Common Darter _Sympetrum striolatum_ - see comments against #909 (Less urgent at this time of year.)

The missing Common Darter was fixed promptly in desktop iRecord but has now disappeared from the iRecord App. This is now urgent. I have recorded this in a separate issue on the NERC-CEH/irecord-app site.
