BirdLifeInternational / track2kba

An R package that facilitates the identification of animal aggregations of potential conservation significance based on individual tracking data. Key functions include utilities to identify and summarise individual foraging trips, estimate utilisation distributions, and overlay distributions to identify important aggregation areas.

new method for repAssess? #50

Somebody came up with a fancy new technique to calculate repeatability for trajectories. This requires the computation of large distance matrices, and may therefore not be more efficient than what we currently do - but I thought it might be worth a try to see whether this method can (a) be seamlessly integrated and (b) makes a difference in computation time? Paper is here: https://besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/2041-210X.14266

I haven't read the paper in detail but if it calculates a repeatability estimate per individual would that be useful for assessing group-level representativeness (i.e. repAssess) or rather for the individual effect test?

I've only skimmed over it but the application example is with individuals... yeah it sounds like a much better statistically developed version of the individual effect test!
