Desktop Wallet window is closing automatically after a new installation #1185

Closed Holgi2402 closed 2 years ago

What happened:

my system: windows 11, Dektop Wallet 2.11.0 after switching to testnet, there was no chance to get back to mainnet, so i deinstalled the desktop wallet, erased all Defi Folders in .AppData and cleaned the registry. Then I installed the dektop wallet 2.11.0 and started it. The coming up window see file automatically closes before i can press any [button.] Screenshot 2022-04-19 094855

What you expected to happen:

first off all i wanted to load the official snapshot and the after synchronisatiion i wanted to load my backup.dat file to get my wallet back.

How to reproduce it (as minimally and precisely as possible):

deinstall the desktop wallet and delete all defi folders. the reinstall the app and start it

Anything else we need to know?:

the app worked fine for 9 month. Even the version 2.11.0 The Problem began after switching to testnet.

this issue can be closed because i found a workaround that worked well. When the window opens you have to wait a second and the you have to press very quickly on Wallet --> Download Snapshot. After this is done, the window doesnt close and the snapshot is downloaded. Aften finishing the download you can start your wallet again for synchronizing. After this is finished, you can play back your existing backup (wallet.dat) now the Desktop is back again and works well. Its a bid tricky but it works...

of course it would be much easier if the window doesn`t close directly after starting the wallet. So if you know the reason for this, please fix it with the next version.

it would be nice if this issue is fixed in the next version, but the workaround is ok for me.
