Kernel source for q/new devices #4

Open wertus33333 opened 3 years ago

Dear Blackshark,

Can you please stop violating the GPL and release the kernel source for shark-q as well as the sources for the newer models? Xiaomi promised to release kernel source within 3 months, Blackshark is produced by Xiaomi--> empty words full of hot air?

I mean it's nothing new for Xiaomi to promise everything and then do nothing after they selled the phones. Please stop scaming your users, seriously!

Or just fully open source your source code (ROM and kernel) and become great (its so easy, just git push it!)

At least provide EDL flashable/fastboot ROMS so users dont end up with a 700.- paperweight just because YOU violate the GPL!

Kernel source for new devices will be updated as soon as possible,Thanks.

wertus33333 commented 3 years ago

Dear BlackSharkCode,

What does "as soon as possible" mean? In my opinion "as soon as possible" would be either putting the code in a zip file and uploading it or just directly push the code to github/gitlab/bitbucked/whatever (except for if you did not track your changes... Still possible to open a new repo!). Either of those methods does not take more than four hours!

As the code is not uploaded yet (or did I miss something?), can you please give me your definition of "as soon as possible"?

The latest commit I can find is "Kernel: BlackShark kernel changes for shark Android O" from Mar 2019.

Thanks & kind regards

Hi @wertus33333 Yeah, But I think the hardware side of BlackShark is very good. However, for only now, it is inferior in terms of software.

Maybe they're commenting on a corporate secret in source code?;;;^^ I just hope they release it soon. Don't be 'possible as impossible'

@BlackSharkCode any news regarding the kernel source?

I did some research about promises from Blackshark/Xiaomi and i'm really worried!

Sources for Blackshark 2 were promised but NEVER released! see: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/kernel-sources.3942007/ , https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/bs2-sources-out-soon.3949267/ or just use google, there are 100ths of threads where BS promised the sources!! The Phone was released about 2 years ago! https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_black_shark_2-9639.php

Furthermore, Xiaomi promised to release kernel sources within three months after launch : https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-aims-to-release-kernel-source-code-for-new-devices-within-3-months-after-launch/ Blackshark is Xiaomi...

Blackshark 3s was released about 5 months ago, Blackshark 3 about a year ago: https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_black_shark_3s-10350.php https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_black_shark_3-10110.php

Still no sources! one full year is MORE than enough to release the sources!!

All those information lead to the conclusion that Blackshark/Xiaomi is lying to their customers and scaming them with false promises! Very dishonorable!

So Blackshark, if you dont agree that you are scaming your customers, a rebuttal of the evidence above can be achieved by publishing the kernel source codes (BS2, 3, 3s, 3pro)!

Do the customers really have to sue/report you to get what you promised? Just release the sources, that's WAY easier and produces less complications for both sides!

If you are a user reading this, please report Blackshark here: http://gpl-violations.org/?

I think we should inform our respective government coz why they haven't released the Blackshark 2,3's kernel source in ONE YEAR? Maybe the experts can check why? There's something fishy why they haven't released it on that long span of time

For example, in Japan, we can request the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of the country to deprive of the certification of technical suitability. They wouldn't even be able to sell their smartphones in that country without something like this. First of all, let's spread this PR to SNS.

And i heard there's a Blackshark 4 soon? How do they managed to get away with these phones without giving what the consumer deserves? I think we can ask help from tech bloggers and YouTubers because 3 previous phone releases more than enough proof that this company doesn't care on the money their users pay. This should stop. Owning a Blackshark doesn't makes me proud at all now coz i only got fooled.

Jbazt commented 3 years ago

I just realized this company just straight lie. They do released the code of the Blackshark 1 but there's issue or its an incomplete code. Refer here: https://github.com/BlackSharkCode/BlackShark_Kernel_OpenSource/issues/1 They're just lying, deceiving and giving false hope to the community

Oneplus nord n10 looks pretty decent (if you don't need the graphics power of snapdragon 865). Also, it's about half the price (with AUX and 5G) and Oneplus already released the source long ago, actually 1 Month after release! Look here Blackshark, THIS is the meaning of "as fast as possible"!

koumaza commented 3 years ago

China quality. Probably they are using proprietary code and cannot be published.

The first issue has not been resolved in the first place. (Instead, volunteers publish a decent Kernel Tree.)

Jbazt commented 3 years ago

They're releasing Blackshark 4/pro and still NO signs of their previous phone's kernel sources 😡

shezik commented 8 months ago

Just release them already dude it is already 2024
