Running into another character knocks them down and disarms them based on a stat check with only moving out of the way as a viable counter. Another counter or two should exist.
Gragger has informed me the calculation is if the runner's STR is higher than the target's CON, knockdown.
Using the defend stance (perhaps only in combat mode), you are braced against oncoming rushes if you have remained on a tile for more than (x) ticks. A running attacker attempting to enter your tile will face your CON x 1.5 or some similar multiplier in his attempt to knock you over.
Using the defend stance in combat mode with a polearm in the STAB intent, a rushing enemy will fail to knock you over and instead suffer a stab attack inflicted using the combined STR of the attacker and defender.
These two options will give the DEFEND intent some real defensive use against anyone who attempts to break into a formation.
I've also considered any time you are static on a tile for (X) ticks to give a bonus to your CON for rush checks, presuming the player to be braced. This would make running charges only useful for someone trying to run away.
