I​n this assignment you will submit a ~3 minute video presentation explaining the basic concept of your project.

T​his video should cover:

• The idea for the project
• N​ame which template you have used for the project
• Motivation for the project (why would people want this project?)
• 2-4 examples of similar projects (including, but not limited to, academic papers, examples of commerical or open source software, creative projects), you should evaluate these examples and use them to explain the motivation for the project (e.g. what is missing in these other projects)

We recommend using visual supporting elements for your presentation (e.g. powerpoint or similar slides). The video does not need to include footage of you face.

Review criteria

Y​ou will be marked according to the following criteria:

• Does the video display knowledge of the area of study and previous work?
• Does the video critically evaluate the previous work?
• Is the project concept justified based on the domain and users?

Here are some thoughts to get started on the video:

• I am proposing an end-to-end, auto-updating machine learning application to predict the salary of software engineers given multiple inputs. I will build a neural network and train it on the stack overflow 2021 developers survey data. I will expose the trained model to the user via a web application and take the user's inputs to continuously re-train the model.
• The template I'm basing my project on is the machine learning template to build a neural network from scratch but it will also draw on the evolutionary AI and non-profit web development templates.
• Similar projects:
  • using pretrained model to software engineer salaries (link needed)
  • this is a very similar project but lacks the continuous improvement of retraining based off inputs and uses pretrained models which may not offer the best results
  • glassdoor
  • glassdoor is probably the single best aggregator of salary information but ... JUSTIFICATION NEEDED
  • NEEDED example of regression using neural network? housing prices? MPG?
• Users could be both job seekers and employers trying to determine the value of a role given a variety of factors. One important factor will be striking a balance between the amount of user input and the accuracy of the model. I want to avoid requiring a lot of input that doesn't lead to a lot of additional accuracy - this would be tedious for the user to use. If the user does not find the form quick and easy then we will get less responses and the model will not have an opportunity to learn. In this way, sacrificing a little accuracy in the short term may lead to much better accuracy via more response data in the long term. RESEARCH ON FORM ATTENTION SPAN NEEDED

Brandon, a classmate who was peer reviewing my work, noted that the file size was large and it loaded slow (on coursera?). Need to make it smaller. Looks like window's video editor exports with a very high bitrate and this cant be changed.

Should just need to re-export in handbrake with a lower bitrate.
