Testnet BTC taproot address always has 0 balance #1414

This testnet BTC taproot address has balance: https://mempool.space/testnet/address/tb1pd2jkkkzvz9gw4gl7a4qy33d36a6s0w0dmm7dsu4fhzd0cpvvnclsl0r608

But blockchair has 0 balance for the same address: https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/testnet/address/tb1pd2jkkkzvz9gw4gl7a4qy33d36a6s0w0dmm7dsu4fhzd0cpvvnclsl0r608

Mainnet taproot address shows valid balance. https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/address/bc1pytrnlyd47l8j2qwsxxnjffhxqwqmen9qffpqwmu5sr40um6hcudq6ymk8w https://mempool.space/address/bc1pytrnlyd47l8j2qwsxxnjffhxqwqmen9qffpqwmu5sr40um6hcudq6ymk8w

Tried the same via API call with a paid blockchair API token. Same behaviour.

I have also encountered this problem, where mempool.space shows correct utxo for my testnet address and blockchair doesn't. If you check your transaction details using your transaction hash in blockchair testnet explorer, you would see different recipient address.

Given your tx hash as 1921177b97c9e318a2ff48b9207506c9a421a67492374cccc46253075777188b, when you check the tx details against both mempool.space and blockchair.com testnet explorer, they show different recipient address, with blockchair.com being the one indexed the wrong address of course.

mempool.space - https://mempool.space/testnet/tx/1921177b97c9e318a2ff48b9207506c9a421a67492374cccc46253075777188b blockchair.com - https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/testnet/transaction/1921177b97c9e318a2ff48b9207506c9a421a67492374cccc46253075777188b

Since blockchair.com has already indexed the wrong recipient address for that transaction, you naturally would not have any utxo for that address.

Currently I am facing the same issue and have not found a solution yet.

@AlstonChan got it.

  1. Have you also faced the issue only for taproot address?
  2. Has blockchair provided any response to you?
AlstonChan commented 8 months ago
  1. I have only transact with taproot address, so I do not know if this issue will occurred on other address format
  2. I just encounter the issue, haven't reach out to blockchair yet

Given the amount of open issues and the response of blockchair support, I have little faith in them to notice this issue, let alone fix it...

It seems like our testnet explorer hasn't been upgraded to support Taproot. The shown addresses are not kinda wrong, these are what a non-upgraded node would've shown.

Right now we're in the process of adding more than 20 new explorers to Blockchair based on a new engine (lots of EVMs, TRON, TON, some UTXO chains, an upgraded XRPL engine) as well as some additions to existing chains (BRC-20 tokens for Bitcoin), but we don't really plan to expand towards testnets at the moment.

Our mainnet Bitcoin explorer fully supports Taproot though.

Given the amount of open issues

Sorry about that, we're getting a bit drowned with "My bitcoins are stuck" issues here...
