Testnet support #144

Howdy. Thanks for blockchair! :) Is there a way for me to get stats from the api for various blockchain testnets? Specifically, I'm looking for Bitcoin Cash (BCH) testnet data. Cheers!

Thanks for using Blockchair! :)

We don’t support testnets as of now, but we have some plans to bring testnet explorers and APIs for all coins we support.

I'd also really like to see Blockchair support testnet. With blocktrail.com gone, bitcoin.com's explorer seems to be the only one left that supports BCH testnet.

Hello, is there any plan for that? Support for all testnets of supported coins would be very useful.

If you don't want to impact production you can create a new baseapi like test.api.blockchair.com, running on low performance servers..

It’s still on our general roadmap as an idea, but I don’t think we’ll roll it out this year. Making testnets available for all the coins we support requires a separate website, a separate API service, a lot of maintenance, and so on, while there’s really not that many use cases.

I understanding these are a bit tricky to implement, but would love to see them added to your API in the future!

Blockchair is a perfect blockchain explorer. When can I see the testnet?

As it was a popular request we’ve decided to give it a shot. As of now, we’ve launched Bitcoin Testnet API (coming to our website later this week), and all Bitcoin endpoints are now available for Bitcoin Testnet as well (please see the changelog for v.2.0.32: https://github.com/Blockchair/Blockchair.Support/blob/master/API_DOCUMENTATION_EN.md).

Here’s a couple of examples:

We have some plans to add Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum testnets in the future. I don’t know if we’ll have testnets for all explorers we have as I’m not sure if there’s a need to have testnets for identical architectures (e.g. Litecoin isn’t that different from Bitcoin).
