Backup and Restore Settings #454

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Would it be possible to get a feature in the program to backup and restore
settings? I love the tool and find myself going back and forth syncing my
settings between two computers a lot (desktop for home, and laptop when I
travel).

We would need a server for this. Best thing is to go to about:config and copy
the
individual settings that you wish to maintain.

What if the feature saved to a location that the user wishes (say a flat file
on your
desktop) then you can restore from a file too?

This might be possible. This should be looked into when we look at the csv
export for
the guild inventory.

Could they utilise the notepad in fallensword to back up settings?

You can't "save to a location that the user wishes". Firefox scripts are not
allowed
to do that. And no, you can't use the "notepad" - there are too many settings
as it
is, it's not possible to maintain a list of settings to put in there. Just copy
prefs.js if you must.

A revisit with the new introduced GM function:

Should we reconsider this?

Any chance of looking at this again now that the ss2helper has this
functionality?
