That was my goal, but I have been unsuccessful getting attention / responses from gnome devs.

I think you can try to publish a request to the Circle https://gitlab.gnome.org/Teams/Circle Then try to create a discussion https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/Initiatives/-/issues
