Who is author and co-author? #20

There should be on the edit panel a dropdown feature or a inputbox where you can type the username who owns it. And it should auto fill out suggestions as you type.

On EDIT BOARD PANEL

Author: Auto fill of suggestions of usernames as you type it in. [1] Co-author: A staff member of the board being submitted.

[1] Much like the feature here on github when you type @.

We can do it like Github, when you transfer the board to someone else, you must type in the name of the board you are trying to submit so it cannot be done by accident.

The BIS will implement groups so the owner can add people to the board and set their in-board permissions. Editing permissions should be a premium feature because when used excessively it can take up quite some storage.

It will cost points of course to edit and we'll put in a limit of 2 edits per month for normal users and 5 per month for premium users.

Like it could cost 100 ponts for normal users and 50 for premium users per edit.

Can you clarify the OP please?

maxpen commented 11 years ago

Done. May have missed out some minor details but we'll probably out which those are when we get to it.

ghost commented 11 years ago

What is an edit board panel and what is the difference between author and co author?

maxpen commented 11 years ago

Where you edit the board details.

Author is the board owner, the guy who submits the board into the directory.

Co-author is a manager who manages and updates the board info when the author cannot. Or when we submitted.

When we submit though we need to discuss what happens.

Will the board be owned by an inactive admin account or by the person who submitted it of our team?

ghost commented 11 years ago

I don't think you understand how the GDS will work. You will be able to have a team all access to the same board. Co author isn't needed, and would also be too limited. Also maybe Manager sounds better than author?

Also if a moderator submits a board and the actual board owner shows up the board has to be manually transferred over to his account.

maxpen commented 11 years ago

GDS? Well could you edit the OP plz? You seem to know this better then me.

And doing this manually will be hard or easy? Just changing an ID in a table in the db right?

ghost commented 11 years ago

No, just click 'transfer board'.

Also I don't know what I should put in the OP. What is the actual question you are asking for?

maxpen commented 11 years ago

When is someone an author and how it works and when is someone a co-author and how that works out.

Taking all the IF this and IF that into consideration as well.

There is not really a point to this discussion. It's not a feature, nor a bug, nor a question.
