Not capturing WPA handshake - Kali Linux #121

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

Do you have any idea what may have caused this bug? Guesses are helpful!

No idea

What operating system are you running? Backtrack 5 R2? 32 or 64 bit?
Blackbuntu?

Kali Linux v 1.0.1

What version of the wifite are you using? v2

Please provide any additional information below. A paste of the error is
very helpful!

No error message. Wifite cracking with WEP and WPS working but WPA only cycles
between listening and deauthing.

Tested WPA handshake successfully with fern-wifi and manually with aircrack.

The tshark output changed and both tshark and aircrack are used to find the
handshake in the capture so either disable the tshark method in the config or
apply attached diff to resolve the issue.
The patch works under Kali, a short confirmation and maybe integration from the
authors side would be great.
Is this tool (thanks for the great work) still actively maintained?

I've patch wifite.py with the diff above, but im still unable to capture
handshake using wifite, airodump picks up handshake (wifite deauths but just
doesnt notify us that it has the handshake.)

Pineapple MK5
wifite v2.0 r85

I had same problem but it was just my signal strength was to low, if the signal
numbers are not green it will just keep cycling.. usually anything over 40dbl
was doable for me,,, but with wifite my numbers have to be 60+ and green... i
do like that it gives you a reference to signal strenth by changing the number
colors but not at the expense of it working =)
