I've been contributing Remark for a year and more. It's ecosystem is really awesome!! It generates AST(abstract syntax tree) just like babel does. So, creating custom markdown plugins should become very easy. 😎 😎

I'm really looking forward to it. Mardown-it support becomes more and more painful. Do you have a plan how to migrate seamlessly? Boostnote is dependent on markdown-it

This discussion has been open for a while and I see no comments against this improvement request. So I think at this point somebody can pick up this issue by submitting a pull request.
