Can't find my notes after windows reinstall/ can't find .scon file #3748

Hi,

2 days ago I had to reinstall Windows 10 on my pc because my pc blue screened because from what I think, my harddrive corrupted. I recovered basically all my files on that harddrive through 'Windows.old'. But I have been trying to find my notes that I had on boostnote 0.2.1. I still see boostnote files in the Appdata directory. And I have looked up how to get my notes and how to import notes, but I can't find the .cson file but there is a lot of other files. In the 'file__0.indexeddb.leveldb' file in 'IndexedDB' I do recognize some text of my notes i there. the .cson file should still be there right? since there are a lot of other files still available.

How can I find/open my notes?

Hi,

this is probably opened in wrong repository, are you using boost note next or boost note legacy?

Boost note next also had *.json notes, but local storage notes as well, which would save it in app data, as to what you found, it was probably that type of storage. This will be harder to restore than just opening that location in boostnote.

Also, whatever version you had, especially that old, stick to it, dont update and download new ones since they are not compatible when jumping through such big version updates.

To load the notes in boostnote from local storage, you would need to change app data in console of the application, for that please join our slack and contact me there or see previous similar questions on boost note next repository discussions.

Before doing any action please backup the app data data, so you can restore it later easily.
