BIP004: NFCs for members #4

Open JosefJ opened 4 years ago

Sooner or later Bordel members will have to use an entry card to access Paralelni Polis.

What options do we have? I) Simple NFC card II) Keychains III) Custom board IV) Emulated cards (might be an issue on iOS) V) Badges? ...

So many options! My suggestions is, let's just 3D print keychains, badges and put in there some cheap nfc chips. Could be hacky 3D fun since we are doing similar printing in Bordel.

how about using the NFC functionality of a regular phone?

Basically, write an app that generates the access keys and shares them with the entry gate when requested.

I like the idea of an app - I was initially looking into option to just emulate the card (even putting it into the iOS wallet for seamless UX - but you know fuck apple 'n all that).

This ultimately goes down to cost/value ratio - app would be very nice but also very resource heavy. As a starter we'll likely get the basic Polis entry card with custom coloring (I'd go either red or green).. if there is enough interest members should feel free to develop adhoc solutions.

What about using 2fa passwd, such as with google auth or authy? Would this be a good temporary solution ?

I would also love to mess around with NFC, card cloning and hacking these kind of things.

Does anyone have resources for that?

Spa's and swimming areas sometimes have these NFC "watches" as access control. Nice and useful.

Also an alternative: https://keycard.tech/ Given that Status is the offical HCPP partner and we'd like to add the Polis token to the Status app, it could work out quite nicely.

Temporarily solved by using public transport NFC cards from various cities.
