Since we're on a monthly update schedule, certain users - mainly power users - may want to opt out of non-mandatory updates. In the current situation, a dialog pops up when a new version is available, which is undesirable for users who run many bots. A command line argument should be supported to disable update checks, and prevent the dialog from appearing.
