GPU Usage High #939

Open ZReed1 opened 3 years ago

ZReed1 commented 3 years ago

Describe the bug On startup gpu usage spikes to over 60% on a RTX 2080 super. Issue is only for me in our group.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. open game

Screenshots/Videos/Twitch Clips talespire high gpu usage issue 2080super

Additional context obviously a larger issue with any lower tier gpus

Is it only during startup or does this persist during play - also, what monitor are you using? With 4k monitors (or even higher) and/or high refresh rates it's not too surprising to see higher GPU usage (though 60% on a 2080 super still sounds a bit too high)

1440 @60 fps and it persisted through a 4 hour session.

image During main menu I was at ~45-50% utilization (1440p@144fps), but once loading a (admittedly fairly large) board it jumped to pretty much full GPU usage (GTX 1080) - personally that seems fine to me. Right now the game isn't super optimized and especially has issues with fully utilizing hardware in challenging scenarios, so it's not too unexpected to see this happening, it's still a bit odd though. It's weird considering the game runs fairly well on low end hardware though, so there's maybe more to look into.
