Climbing high walls #947

Open Weird-devi opened 3 years ago

Describe the bug While playing with some friends, one of them noticed he could jump up on a wall, which I didnt expect him to be able to. Later I tried to replicate the behavior and found that when moving ones figurine with WASD (or arrowkeys) they can jump up walls that are either 8 floor blocks tall, or 2 wall blocks high (same height). If I placed another block to make it 9 blocks tall, one cannot jump up the wall anymore. I'm guessing it is a bug, as I dont think figurines were intered to leap over massive walls in 1 leap.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Place 8 or less floorboards, or 2 or less walls.
  2. Walk against them with WASD (or arrowkeys)
  3. Watch the figurine jump an extrodinary height.

Additional context While it can easily be blocked by adding another block to make it 9 blocks high, or place an edge to block their jump, it can make building a bit anoying, as players can jump up on some roofs or walls you didnt intent do, thus adding another layer to consider.

I had the same issue....

Probably not really a bug, but simply the movement/character controller not being fleshed out - it's definitely an issue while playing and I'm sure it'll be addressed.

with the sewer wall you can climb all the way on the one side, but the curved side only 2/3 of the way up. I'd argue the curved side of the wall being partially climbable is a feature if it were only 1/3 or maybe 1/2. As long as you're a halfling rogue you can hide in the corners of the tunnel! anything taller pops out the top of the tile.
