Auto exposure lock (AE-L) on live view #27

Hi,

I didn't find a way to lock exposure on dslrdashboard's live view. Is there a
button (or an option) for that?

I record a lot of green screen videos and exposure lock is necessary to keep
the exposure of the background constant (for chroma keying to work correctly).

With AE-L option dslrdashboard would be a perfect remote application for
experts who record themselves in front of a green screen.

Best,
Petri

The AE-L button is not available while the camera is in PTP mode. The only way
I could implement it is to add a button that would switch to M mode (host mode
should be enabled) and set the current shutter speed, aperture, iso speed (or
name the properties that should be remembered).
After you press the button again it should bring the camera back in the mode
that it was before.
Was you thinking about such a function?

Thank you for your quick reply!

I think that the functionality you described would do the trick!

Btw. I can press AE-L hard button on my camera (Nikon D7000) before entering
live view mode on dslrdashboard (an AE-L indicator shows on the lower right
corner of dslrdashboard screen) and AE stays locked throughout the "live view
session". That way I can't check the exposure on the screen before locking it
(it would much better if I could press the AE-L button to lock the exposure
during live view).

Yes, while the camera is in 'camera mode' and not in live view mode you can
operate the AE-L button and the application will display it's status
(enabled/disabled). If the camera is in 'hoste mode' or live view you can't
operate the button any more and there is no PTP command or property that would
simulate the AE-L button.
Will see to add such a button that I described in my previous post.
