Server libraries, frameworks

• Cutelyst seems like an obvious choice because Qt

Let's try to evaluate them

No GPL. Avoid LGPL. Avoid bringing Boost into the project if possible. C++ if possible, not C.

Short list

• uWebSockets - µWS is one of the most lightweight, efficient & scalable WebSocket & HTTP server implementations available. [Zlib]
  • Light, header-only, no Boost, very C++17. API looks really nice. Not sure what's not to like.

Server

• cpp-httplib - A single file C++11 header-only HTTP/HTTPS sever library. [MIT]
  • API looks nice. Some concerning open issues.

Framework

These are mostly really heavy and I probably don't want any of them.

• Cutelyst - A C++ Web Framework built on top of Qt, using the simple approach of Catalyst (Perl) framework. [LGPLv2.1+] website
  • It's very Qt. I already link Qt, but I'm also trying to avoid Qt-y code because it's so weird and non-standard.
  • Probably no. Let's not add more LGPL code? Also it's pretty heavy-handed. I don't need that for a simple web API.
• oat++ - Light, zero-dependency framework to create high-performance web-services. [Apache-2.0] website
  • Weird API?
• Pistache - Pistache is a C++ REST framework written in pure C++11 with no external dependency. [Apache2]
  • Verbose API?

I have adopted huestacean, but will be unable to really make much use of it until an HTTP interface exists.

My professional work includes leading software development, so I'm planning to try to roll up my sleeves and make contributions. Pinging here to see if there's any additional work or information I should review to leverage work or thought you've put into this direction. Will be continuing to read what's here on GitHub, but figured reaching out would be a good idea :-).
