Easy

Just pull the Releases page and compare version numbers to current like VioletGiraffe/github-releases-autoupdater; then prompt the user to go to Releases to download it. Don't even both with auto-download.

Less easy

Bother with auto-download. e.g. https://github.com/Skycoder42/QtAutoUpdater
