ive given admin permissions, ive uninstalled and reinstalled the microsoft thing countless times. ive reinstalled huestacean countless times. im connectws by dvi from my monoprice 144hz monitor to my gtx 970, the only thing i havent done is installed Cmake and QT, do i need those?

BradyBrenot commented 6 years ago

You don't need cmake or Qt.

What do you mean by "won't detect my monitor" exactly? Do you mean the monitor drop-down is just empty, or something else? Which Release / Releases have you tried?

Also, hardware: Is this a laptop with a hybrid GPU? If so, it might be #25

I just have a pc. the monitor drop down has Monitor 0 (1920x1080) however its just the default flashing colors. ive tried 2.0 alpha 2 and 3.

Not sure what's going on here. It could either be failing to connect to the bridge or the DXGI screen capture calls could be failing.

I've attached a huestacean.exe with a bit more logging. If you could extract that into your huestacean directory, replacing the existing huestacean.exe (* from one of the 2.0 alphas), then run it from a command prompt (or run "start huestacean with command prompt.bat") , that might reveal something.

Are you using Windows 7? If so, see #73 and let me know so I can close this.

Can you upload dxdiag here? -- https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/pc/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/ has decent instructions for that

Okay so, I had a similar problem with my old laptop (which is hooked to my TV via HDMI). To get the lights syncing, try to lunch "NVIDIA Control Panel" and go to "Adjust Image Settings with Preview". I don't know how or why but this is the only thing I needed to do.
