Pinned tabs not working correctly #118

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
These are from tab mix plus, I think. If you pin a tab it remains on the tab
bar at all times, and it's also available in all the tab groups (with the
defaultish firestorm panorama tab manager)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Pin a tab
2. Go to another group. You will see the pinned tab
3. But if you click on the pinned tab, it behaves like you clicked on the first
tab.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see the contents of the pinned tab. Instead, I see the contents of
the first tab (and if I have multiple rows of tabs, then the tab bar scrolls to
the first tab as well).

System Info:
What version of TabGroups Manager are you using? 2014.12.21.005
What Operative System are you using? 32 or 64 bits? Windows 7x64
What version of Firefox are you using? um *blush* palemoon
Are you using any other tab extension like Colorfull tabs, Multiple Tab
Handler, TabMix Plus..?
Tab mix plus and multiple tab handler

Please provide any additional information below and screens capture if
possible.

Sometimes if I unpin all the tabs and then repin them, they'll disappear from
the other windows, but reappear when I restart the browser

Please verify what happens if you use actual firefox release to exclude
additional problems with Palemoon.

I just did that. I have exactly the same problem. Also when I exported a group
from palemoon and re-imported it into firefox i got all the pinned tabs which
was surprising.

It seems to be something to do with the original problems I was having with the
panorama group tabs. I just found the problem in firefox was because I exported
then imported a group. for brand new groups I could pin and unpin tabs in one
group and it didn't affect the others. It's just a problem for these groups and
it goes with them if I export them from palemoon and re-import into firefox

*blush* i should have said that pinning a tab in the 'start' group will cause
problems in the newly imported groups. Hil

I just tried also saving the groups as bookmarks (that's a really lovely
feature by the way), then exporting the bookmarks, reimporting them into
firefox and trying. and it goes wrong again in exactly the same way.

I would never only close all groups and re-import session data or bookmarks
into your profile. You should always delete all session related files to get
sure that you really start with new clean files.

needed files to delete:
Sessionstore.js
Sessionstore.bak
Sesseionstore-backups folder
tabgroupsmanagerdata folder

If this is done you should only import then from your saved group bookmarks.

I did that on firefox and it still goes wrong in the same way. In fact I found
out how to create a blank profile - and it still does the same thing.

I think this is what you need to do:
Bookmark a lot of groups (at least enough to make your tab bar too wide so it
needs scroll in each of them. Two of mine have 50+ tabs in if that helps)
Create blank profile
Load the first group into your first group
Add a 2nd group and load the next
and the 3rd
and the 4th

Go back to the first and pin 3 or 4 tabs
go to the 2nd, you'll see them pinned but when you click on them you get the
contents of whatever the first tab is.

Sometimes you'll see groups that have no tabs pinned, and it's not always
consistent in that you can click forward or backwards in groups, and sometimes
you'll see the tabs pinned (to the left of the scroll arrow) and sometimes
you'll not see anything, just the first tab.

Hope that's some help

Hil

I can not reproduce this. All pinned tabs stays in their group and are working
as expected. Installed beta 5 to test and it is all ok. Tabmix is also
installed here.

Did you disabled multiple tab handler for tests?
Tabmix version?

I did this in a brand new firefox profile with only TabGroup manager in it.

I have just had this happen as well. But I did notice that just prior to it
occuring TabGroups "updated" to version 2014.08.21.004. I have now "rolled
back" to version 2014.12.21.005 and everything is sweet again.

So it may help to check your version number.
