Remote Viewing of BrisJS meetup with WebRTC #27

Hi there, I'm moving away from BrisVegas and despite being a pretty inactive member, what I'll miss most are the BrisJS meetup sessions.

Wondering whether we could experiment with setting up WebRTC streaming so I can still dial in, and so other meetup groups around Australia can take a peek at the BrisJS awesomeness.

Maybe just this:

It's actually funny you mention this, but i'm actually experimenting with a way to make this happen :-) I've been keeping this fairly quiet but I've been putting together a raspberry pi which runs on battery, has a touch screen, and we can use node and js, with web-rtc or the like in order to stream or record or both. It's my hope that we can get this out via our very own node based website, and we can run some multi meetups - partnering with the sydJS guys and running some talks that happen across the country :+1: Bluetooth mics for speakers...etc. But yes, otherwise in the meantime we'll have some more 'ready to use' methods while i'm cooking things up.

I have been thinking about this too. I had shocking bandwidth last meetup so I'd be interested in how well it'll go livestreaming.

In the meantime would there be interest in recording talks to put on YouTube, or is that spoiling the fun?

Yeah where streaming is not working it will store locally and buffer to a server for delayed streaming .... or just an 'after event' thing like youtube or whatnot heheh.

As a simple update to this, we've been recording and working on a youtube page and google plus organisation page. Once the video's have undergone a review and approval process from those who appear in them, they will be here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9Zts-dkDz0DBZ_f8ETgHcQ/featured

A Streaming presentation may still be an option for adhoc and cross meetup events.

What about Rollcall? P2P WebRTC audio: https://github.com/mikeal/roll-call

Another ping is that we're going to probably get regular youtube streaming in addition to formal event recordings. We just have to work out the hardware situation :)

I have a tripod & phone, and I'm happy to continue doing the livestream. We may need to request the Auto & General folks set up a wifi password each month though, as it expires regularly.

If all else fails I can probably do this on 4G depending on network congestion.

I'm going to close this one because I think this satisfies the original request :)
