This is a future feature, but does manage to cause problems now:
there is a roles administrative page which is used to provision the dropdown list that assigns a role to a person in the annotation form.
Roles are also assigned "freehand" in the biography structured data, and then repeated even more "freehand" in the markdown, full text component of the biography.
In an ideal world, the roles there would be a way to put all roles into a person's bio that are already assigned in annotations and possibly also allow others to be selected. (something to discuss with the faculty member). These same roles would also appear in the display, instead of having the researcher type them in once more...
