IL.Chi.UC.SMA collection ? #123

here are 12 inscriptions from this collection IL.Chi.UC.SMA in the transcribed inscriptions, but the collection is not in the database, and so is not showing up on the Collections page. Is is one that has changed name? or should it be added?

Also, one of the inscriptions, IL.Chi.UC.SAM.G.1967.115.300 has the collection name component misspelled IL.Chi.UC.SAM. This means that the filename and id should be fixed if necessary.

The collection is new and should be added I find only 9 transcribed IL.Chi.UC.SMA entries (including the misnamed "IL.Chi.UC.SAM.G.1967.115.300") in the Git depository of xml transcribed files, for which the Inventory shows no other information. The inventory lists 25 entries in all for that collection but does not include IL.Chi.UC.SMA.G.1978.18, which i have now added to the list (but needs a folder, print outs posting image already labelled of files I will send). We need USEP stubs, at least, under the collection entry for all of those.

The collection (IL.Chi.UC.SMA) should be added as: Smart Museum of Art The University of Chicago 5550 S. Greenwood Ave. Chicago, Illinois 60637

I will write up a collection description once the collection is entered. I have now checked out of the library the main publication of the collection: The Classical Collection of the David and Alfred Smart Museum of Art, The University of Chicago, edited by G. Ferrari, C. M. Nielsen and K. Olson (Chicago 1999), which will need to be added to the bibliography.

The inscription most ready to post, once the xml is written, is IL.Chi.UC.SMA.G.1978.18, which has an edited photo and report by Ian Moyer from 2013. I attach here the basis records. Gaia, you have a tiff version of the labelled image in the "USEP-Images-labeled_with_id" folder.

I added the collection stub, now it is only missing the description. There are already 6 inscriptions under the collection stub I just made (all with transcription, none with images). If it works for everyone, I can work on these inscriptions and their images this week.

Were you able to find the collection volume in the USEP room? I need that to write the collection description

Was it a library book or a photocopied one? I did not see any library books when I looked for it, but I can go back and check again.

Not completed. I have requested the museum catalog from the Rock and hope to see what it has about the missing objects (and possibly photos).

Also, the six entries showing are all listed as having a "transcription", but the most complete entry (only one with photo now) does not.

Misnamed file (SAM) has been renamed. Filenames have been corrected to "IL" not "Il" so all should show up. Only left is collection description. Also, all but one have no images, so images have to be created and added to XML files.

Revisiting: do we now have a collections description that @spapando or @jbodel can add in the admin interface? We're also in need of images, and I do not know whether we have originals that can be processed.

We do not yet have photos but I can provide a collection description and will try to write one soon. I have to get the museum catalog.
