2021.10 does not seem to work with Internet Download Manager #36

Describe the bug After a very short time after installation, IDM does not catch downloads.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Install the last IDM version on Windows
  2. To have a clean start uninstall from Waterfox, restart Waterfox.
  3. Install from file "idmmzcc3.xpi"
  4. Works at first, but very rapidly, the IDM GUI no longer shows when you click on a download link, and download is made directly by Waterfox, much more slowly!

  5. Uninstall + install makes it work again, but still for a short time (less than a day)

    • OS: Window 10
    • Version 1909

I've been manually updating a lot this year and while I'm not sure about the details I had to manually check for an update.

It could be IDM 6.40 the culprit, I had the same problem with Waterfox 2021.08.01. But the Waterfox profile could have been corrupted, which is a lot of work to recreate even from a backup.

Well, after many tests, I know.

IDM 640B1 does not work with any Waterfox release.

And Waterfox 2021.10 does not work with any IDm release.

So, both products are faulty. Latest IDM is incompatible with any Waterfox, and latest Waterfox is incompatible with any IDM,

That's the weirdest problem I ever found!

I had to read the title.

You'll either want to use Download Manager Tweak or get a dedicated download program like JDownloader.

Thanks for the tip. I already use JDownloader when I have more than 5 links, but for only one, it's an extra-complication compared to IDM. I'll try Download Manager Tweak. Edit: IDM is 5 to 10 times faster than Download Manager Tweak

Waterfox 2021.11 is not incompatible with IDM. It's only incompatible with versions above 6.38.19. I was fooled by the automatic upgrades which installed more recent add ons. Once upgrades are disabled, IDM 639build8 works like a charm with any version of Waterfox, while any add on published since fails. In hindsight, it looks obvious, but it was not easy to find out that the automatic upgrades were loading an IDM bugged version. There is nothing wrong with IDM 6.38.19, but still, I hope that they find the bug and correct it. I informed their support of course.

@BobHD there is a new IDM Integration Module update 6.40.5 working on latest Waterfox Classic version

Thanks for the tip. The last one I was getting when upgrading was 6.40.3.3, I'll test the new one of course.
