Is there a way that the Waterfox team could continue to support this release via the regular update methods, that is, a repository key & packages?
If you're talking about https://software.opensuse.org//download.html?project=home%3Ahawkeye116477%3Awaterfox&package=waterfox-classic-kpe, then that's unofficial repository made by me and I doesn't belong to Waterfox team. From what I know, there wasn't apt repository created by Waterfox team.
I've tried the appimage, but it isn't a viable solution (breaks add-ons).
Then the same would be with package from my repo or official tarball. There are no patches in AppImage package, it's built from official source.
Even Though End of Life Has Been Extended Until 2026
Standard support (LTS) ended, only „extended" support left, which requires registering and from what I know, the number of updatable packages is really small. There is even no update for Firefox through apt and it's only available as Snap package.
Canonical has extended the end of life of Ubuntu 16.04 until 04/2026:

Thank you.
