1 week ago I think maintaining compatibility with Win 7 and 8 would have been a perfect track for Waterfox Classic to take given its name (although if memory serves its purpose had to do with legacy extension support). It's just too bad it was silently dropped with not so much as an announcement.
Are there any more updates planned for G6.0? Firefox 115 ESR support is extended until March 2025. Since there is no support for Win 7 and Win 8.1 in version 6.5, it was logical to continue releasing G6.0 updates for these operating systems until Firefox support ends (and maybe even longer).
