Thunderbird and SeaMonkey share an addons site (https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/, https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/seamonkey/). I wonder if it might be possible for Waterfox to get in on it as well.
I wouldn't trust Mozilla anymore. The issue has been raised many times on different places, so far there are alternative sites like https://add0n.com/ or projects like https://github.com/JustOff/ca-archive plus many personal sites scattered around.
...or some arcane mirrors - like http://ftp.kr.freebsd.org/pub/ftp.mozilla.org/addons/ -
that was referenced here.
Sorry for the delayed response - a Waterfox AMO is on its way, aiming for Q2 release along with some other of the Mozilla cloud services :-)
Any year to that Q2, @MrAlex94? :speak_no_evil: :dash:
No pressure meant of course. I just figured that TMP works well for me with G5 by just installing its .xpi
(one step closer for me to leave WF Classic behind), and I vaguely remember there were some other adjusted legacy addons (but currently cannot find their place). As setting up and maintaining an addon repository is more than just "dropping a link", maybe a (maintained) list of such addons could be "prominently" placed until that's ready?
Thanks a ton for Waterfox. I just tried it and it's now my primary browser. Old is gold!
Now with the legacy addons lost from AMO, we need an alternative to host legacy addons that work with Waterfox.
I'm the author of ColorfulTabs and would like to take the initiative to help develop such a portal where developers can release their addons as well as update them like AMO. Is this something that you'd want to support in Waterfox?
Alternatively, I can also host my own addon. Would you want to have a page on the https://www.waterfoxproject.org/ that lists the compatible addons and their download URLs? This will come in handy for users who are looking for such addons and help connect with the developers as wel.
