year as a random effect? #22

Should year be included as a continuous smooth covariate or random effect? This would model changes in vital rates over time or environmental stochasticity. On the other hand, it might cause problems if it is collinear (concurve, really) with SPEI history. I'm not sure if collinearity/concurvity can be a problem with random effects.

Running concurvity() results in a high value and I think that's enough for me to not include it, for now at least.
