I've updated the project to work with Ember 1.13. This involved the following steps:

Convert prototype extension uses. E.g. someProp: function () {/* do something */}.property() vs. someProp: Ember.computed(function () {/* do something */}).
Fix most deprecations related to newer Ember versions. Note that I did not convert initializers that reference the app instance to the new instance initializers.
Upgrade ember-cli to the latest version: 1.13.7.

All tests are passing.
