Adding far future dates in expense #9

Open BryanElmer opened 3 years ago

BryanElmer commented 3 years ago

Adding an expense that has not yet been made is a good feature. However, since Stonks is designed to be used for daily expenses, being able to add an expense for a very far future date is does not fit the feature.

Example command: add_ex_d d/KFC, MCD, a/222.22 c/food D/12/12/3333

Team's Response

So previously we had this reported as a bug that we should have a functionality to add future dates, we believe that giving the user an option to add future predictable expense would be more of a benefit than a flaw. Hence we disagree with this bug report.

Furthermore, the date function would allow one to correct a past entry in the event that something was inputted wrongly by deleting the entry and adding it with the past date again.

Team chose [response.Rejected]

Reason for disagreement: As mentioned in the UG, StonksXD is made to be used as a daily journal to keep track of daily expenses made. I agree that being able to add future/past dates is an important feature that you have added because of your previous bug report.

My report however is not about the ability to add past/future dates. It is about having an upper limit to the date you can add. I believe that being able to add an expense for a very far future date does not fit the feature.
