spurious newlines for dropbox files

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open a file in dropbox
2. Add some lines of text
3. Save the file
4. Close notepad-plus
5. Open notepad plus
6. Open the file from dropbox

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect to see the same file, but I see a file with two newlines for 
every newline I entered.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Notepad-plus 2.3.5.0 on Q10 running os 10.2.0.424

Please provide any additional information below.
When I look at the file on my desktop between saves, I can see that an extra 
crlf is added for every line on save.

I'm using linux. But the interesting thing is that I don't even have to open 
the file in linux for this to happen. 

Of course it's possible that the linux dropbox client is doing something weird.
