Description

Budgie Menu applet has abnormally low height (~ 0.5x of 10.7.2) under Compact Mode. Standard Mode is not affected.

I'm using budgie-desktop (10.8-1) package from rc-buggy with libmutter-12-0 (44.3-6) from sid with X.Org fractional scaling patch on Debian.

Budgie version

10.8

Operating System

Debian trixie/sid/rc-buggy

Steps to reproduce the issue

Enable "Compact Mode" on Budgie Menu applet.

Actual result

buggy_desktop

Expected result

budgie_desktop

Additional information

I suspect it might have something to do with commit https://github.com/BuddiesOfBudgie/budgie-desktop/commit/3895c9a56ea1c7d47ea63c198e0b30c3a26480bb.

I can't seem to reproduce this on Solus, which is using Magpie without fractional scaling. I forget what version of Mutter that corresponds to; maybe a problem with a newer Mutter?

fossfreedom commented 1 year ago

I can't reproduce this on trixie. This looks to be an issue with your fractional scaling patch.

I used the official Ubuntu patch from salsa. I spun up a Ubuntu Budgie VM and upgraded to mantic, and reproduced the same bug.

ubuntu_buggy

I admit this might not be a Budgie issue per se, but this will impact Ubuntu and any downstream distro.

I also see this bug on Solus 4.4 Budgie when I'm running in 2160p and switch to 200% scaling. Also, when first switching to 200% scaling, the option doesn't take and I have to select it and confirm a second time for it to work. I'm not using any custom scaling patches.
