Docs cleanup #118

Refreshes a lot of the documentation that had become inaccurate/false during the abstract matching refactor.

Hopefully we won't need to do such docs-breaking changes in the near future now, and can instead just improve them as we discover flaws, or at least maintain this level of documentation when we make changes from now on.
