Boot freeze after installing bumblebee #826

Open ghost opened 7 years ago

ghost commented 7 years ago

I'm not sure whether this bug is related to some of the ones I saw already opened here but I still open this issue in hope for some help. After installation of Bumblebee my Linux just freezes during the boot process. I've tested with both Nvidia and Nouveau drivers.

System is:

$ lspci | grep -E "VGA|3D"
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 530 (rev 06)
01:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GM108M [GeForce 940MX] (rev a2)

Entire boot log is available here.

Any clues on how to debug this further? What logs would be relevant?

Lekensteyn commented 7 years ago

The information here might be relevant: https://github.com/Bumblebee-Project/Bumblebee/issues/764#issuecomment-234494238 (I guess it is exactly the same issue given your dGPU model)

The kernel log (dmesg) would be helpful.

The kernel log (dmesg) would be helpful.

Can you provide me the complete command to retreive it?

Lekensteyn commented 7 years ago

dmesg

apci_osi=! acpi=Windows 2009 fixed the problem on my computer thanks to your comment @Lekensteyn. FYI, it's a Clevo N550RN i7-6700HQ HD Graphics 530 + NVidia GeForce 940MX running Mageia 5.
