Various salves are craftable, but can not be used in multiplayer.

Known issue. It is hit and miss whether they work in SMP or not. We've bashed against this for a long time and as the PMP base code isn't available, nothing we can do. They have been left in as they are functional in SSP and sometimes in SMP.
