I am not 100% sure if this is a special case for live sessions, but HOME should be set nevertheless, no?

Confirmed in a BL live session.

I can't think of any case where HOME might differ from /home/user in a live session though. Suggestions?

On reflection, I suppose using $HOME might give us more freedom to tweak the live iso in the future, without having to worry about implications here.
