This Twitter bot could use the streaming API to monitor all mentions and respond. A mention could be...
@nonstopmke When will the next but arrive for stop 3344?
The bot would detect words like "arrive" or "eta" and the integer value and reply.
@busrider The next bus will arrive in 6 minutes. Details: http://bit.ly/12k3xk3
The link can go to the mobile friendly page which shows predictions for that bus stop. This could be a great way to make the bus times access to everyone since Twitter supports SMS interactions. Users can also ask for help to get a link to a page which explains how to ask for bus times.
The bot can keep track of people's requests and if they do use the website or the mobile app they could even link their Twitter account so that they can have the bot proactively mention them with bus times at times and stops they request, like 7:45 it would tweet them the predictions for the next hour for their specified bus stop and at 4:45 it can tweet them predictions for another bus stop. Perhaps these would go out at DMs.
