According to this documentation this should work. I have the receiver set up as UDI output. I have tried configuring Butterflight with both XBUS and SRXL serial communication. With XBUS I have no communication. With SRXL I can communicate but the channels are erratic. One stick will move all channels erratically. I have this successfully working with Cleanflight and Naze32 (XBUS).
