The compacting recipe for amethyst shards to blocks is 9:1, as if it was a 3x3 recipe, but it is actually a 2x2 recipe. This means a player is able to duplicate amethyst shards by putting 1 block of amethyst into either the compacting drawer or simple compacting drawer, taking out the 9 converted amethyst shards, then crafting them up into 2 blocks, etc.
I am playing the modpack Chosen's Modded Adventure if that matters.
