I feel this is covered in our outreach for RSA.

Many security models cover key aspects of data security and privacy, but the DSMM brings a uniquely “data-centric” approach not found in other models. While traditional data protection strategies have typically focused on narrowly defined use cases or specific threats, the DSMM aims to help organizations take a broad, more consistent approach to protect any or all of their data.
