merging from YP's branch is impossible as there have been thousands of developments in the interim and there is no version ancestry. Will have to re-do the changes manually.

| by bep599Within the subroutine photosynthesis, historically C3 and C4 are calculated within the same equation modulated by the C4 fraction of the veg type. Now that we have distinct types for each of them, we begin to see some problems arising in C4 simulations. Anna Ukkola reported the collapse of LAI in the simulation of the Konza fluxnet site, which is opposed to observations.
Yingping has worked on the problem and suggested to make it simpler by separating the two calculations. Bernard has tested it on both Konza (C4) and Tumbarumba (C3) to show that it improved the C4 simulation and does not change the C3 simulation.
